(Washington, D.C.) - Montana's senior U.S. Senator Max Baucus issued the following statement regarding the news the Federal Aviation Administration has awarded a transportation infrastructure grant to revamp the access road to the airport:
"This grant will help support jobs during the construction phase but will also help improve safety at the Glacier Park International Airport. I'm pleased to see this smart investment going to work for Montana and will keep working on any and every way to boost good-paying job opportunities in the region."
The grant is anticipated to support 30 construction jobs in the Flathead. Baucus, who is Chairman of the Senate Essential Air Caucus, won a hard-fought battle to reauthorize the Federal Aviation Administration through 2015. The Department of Transportation estimates that every $1 billion invested in the Airport Improvement Program under the FAA creates or sustains more than 20,000 American jobs.
