Treasury Building

 

Tours of the United States Treasury Building focus on the unique art and architecture of the building.  Built in 1836, it is the third oldest building in Washington, DC.  Please look over the guidelines below to make sure your tour goes smoothly and is as enjoyable as possible.  We are glad you chose this experience to add to your trip to Washington!

When you must request this tour by:  One week in advance.

What You Need to Have with You upon Arriving for the Tour:  Photo ID and printed copies of any confirmation documents emailed to you from my office.

 

Location:  15th Street NW and Hamilton Place NW, Washington, DC 20220
Exact Location:  Visitors must enter through the south building entrance located at 15th Street NW and Hamilton Place NW (Washington Monument side).  Enter through the gate in the iron fence by pressing the call button.  Check in at the main desk directly inside the doors and give your name and present your photo ID to the Treasury Building employee.

Orange/Blue Line and Red Line, located at 12th and G Streets NW
McPherson Square-Orange/Blue Line, located at 14th and I (Pronounced:  "Eye") Streets NW

Duration:  One hour.

Prohibited/Accepted Items:  Below is a list of prohibited and accepted items for this tour.

Prohibited Items:

  • Cameras or video recorders
  • Handbags, book bags, backpacks or purses
  • Food or beverages
  • Tobacco products
  • Personal grooming items (makeup, lotion, etc.)
  • Strollers
  • Any pointed objects (including knitting needles)
  • Aerosol containers
  • Guns, ammunition, fireworks, electric stun guns, mace, martial arts weapons/devices, or knives of any size

Accepted Items:

  • Cell Phones (May not be used on the tour)
  • A Government issued ID
  • Umbrellas
  • Wallets
  • Car Keys

Dining Options:  No dining options are available on-site at the Treasury Building.  However, many are available in the surrounding area.

Gift Shop:  No gift shop is available at the Treasury Building.

Accessibility:  This tour is accessible to individuals with mobility impairments.
